Celebrating Excellence in Welding Engineering: Lawrence Barboza Attends House of Lords Dinner

Last week, Lawrence Barboza, Principal Welding Engineer at NIS, was honoured with an invitation to a distinguished dinner at the House of Lords. The event, hosted by Dr. Caroline Gumble, newly appointed CEO of The Welding Institute (TWI), and Baroness Brown, President of TWI, celebrated the Institute’s rich history and its strategic role in advancing energy sustainability across the UK—particularly in the hydrogen and nuclear sectors.  The evening also provided guests with an insight into Caroline Gumble’s vision for the future of TWI.

Lawrence’s invitation was a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of welding engineering. As a respected subject matter expert, he has consistently demonstrated technical expertise, and a commitment to advancing industry standards. His achievements were further underscored last year when he received the prestigious European Welding Federation Best European Welding Coordinator award.

This recognition not only celebrates Lawrence’s personal accomplishments but also highlights the calibre of talent within NIS, reinforcing the company’s dedication to supporting the UK’s energy future through engineering excellence.
