We are now looking for a SHE Advisor who will provide competent support across the business, ensuring compliance, strengthening our SHE culture, and enabling safe, efficient delivery of our strategic objectives. It’s a key role in supporting the SHE Manager, engaging with teams across all departments, and contributing to the development of a proactive, positive and collaborative approach to SHE and Nuclear Safety.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
- SHE compliance support — Provide competent SHE advice and guidance to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company procedures and ISO management systems.
- Audit participation — Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring findings are addressed and closed out efficiently.
- Legislation awareness — Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SHE legislation and industry best practice, applying this to drive compliance and improvement.
- Risk identification — Identify hazards and support the assessment and control of risks to people, plant, equipment and the environment.
- Design and engineering input — Provide SHE input into engineering and design activities to ensure risks are eliminated or reduced ALARP.
- Operational monitoring — Monitor operational activities, intervening where standards are not met, including stopping work where necessary.
- Incident investigation — Lead or support investigations into incidents, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Operational engagement — Maintain a visible presence across operations, providing practical SHE support to manufacturing, projects and site activities.
- Inspections and observations — Carry out SHE inspections, audits and observations, working with teams to address issues and improve standards.
- Training and communication — Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and SHE communications to support awareness and engagement.
- Committee participation — Contribute to SHE committees and safety forums
- Systems and reporting — Maintain SHE records, reports and action tracking systems, contributing to KPIs, performance reporting and improvement plans.
- Continuous improvement — Support the development and review of SHE policies, procedures and processes, and contribute to external submissions such as ROSPA awards.
