‘I Believe in You’ Project

In support of our commitments to Social Impact and being a responsible organisation within the communities we serve, we are excited to introduce a new partnership project between NIS and the Centre for Leadership Performance (CforLP). This unique project is dedicated to empowering young people in Cumbria over the next 3 years, with an expectation similar initiatives will be rolled out locally.

Centre for Leadership Performance (CforLP) is a not-for-profit leadership development company established in 2011, working to develop Cumbria’s leaders for today and tomorrow. They offer bespoke training and leadership programmes to people of all ages, creating an inclusive learning community from Primary to Retirement.

The new partnership project, titled “I Believe in You”, is designed to offer personalised support to young people facing challenges and setbacks, helping them to overcome obstacles and achieve their potential. This unique project offers young people expert support and guidance from the Centre for Leadership Performance, which will be enriched by NIS employees through mentoring and shadowing experiences. The project aims to utilise positive role models from NIS to share their career journeys, offer objective guidance and provide hope and inspiration to young people who are struggling to find the right path for them.

CforLP and NIS will work in partnership to pilot the first year of the programme, working together to identify between 3 and 5 young people aged 16-25 years old and supporting them from August 2024 to April 2025, with a view to continuing the project over a further 2 years. Each young person will undergo a diagnostic 1:1 session with the CforLP team to assess their situation, challenges, interests, and strengths. Based on this assessment, a personalised action plan outlining targeted support interventions will be developed, including mentoring, shadowing experiences, coaching, development workshops, and resources to ensure each young person receives the specific assistance they need. Continued development will be ensured through 1:1 coaching sessions provided by CforLP.
