NIS cleans up

NIS have taken the next step in our commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050 by investing in two electric forklift trucks.  The new forklifts will create a cleaner, safer and quieter working environment in line with our sustainability business objectives.  They are a welcome addition to NIS as we continue our journey of being the design and manufacturer of choice within the Nuclear industry for complex, high integrity plant and equipment.

Other carbon reducing activities we have recently undertaken are;

  • Office lighting throughout our facilities has been replaced with LED lighting.
  • Our HV electricity supply transformer to the Ackhurst Road site has been replaced with a higher efficiency unit.
  • Significant uptake of electric vehicles within the fleet, supported with an onsite charging infrastructure to encourage the adoption for business and commuting use.
  • Implementation of a four day working week, allowing the offices and factory emissions to be significantly reduced on Friday’s.
  • Introduction of de-stratifying fans to assist with thermal control in the workshops.
